Tropitone Furniture Recalls Commercial Dining Chairs

Chair recallIrvine, CA (SafetyAlerts) - Tropitone Furniture Co., Inc. is voluntarily recalling for replacement approximately 30,600 of its Marrakesh dining chairs, model 1324, from commercial purchasers of the chair. The front legs of the chair can crack, causing the person seated in the chair to fall and sustain injury.

Tropitone has received reports of the front legs of approximately 80 of these chairs breaking in commercial settings. In 6 instances, users reportedly fell from the chair and sustained injuries.

These chairs were sold between 1977 and March of 1999. The chairs were sold in a wide variety of frame colors, with criss-cross vinyl strapping on the seat and back of the chairs. The approximate dimensions of the chair are 32 inches high, 24 -1/2 inches deep, and 23-1/2 inches wide.

Persons should immediately stop using these chairs in commercial settings, and should contact Tropitone Furniture Co., Inc. to obtain replacements.
