Limited Recall of 75% Lean Ground Beef
Bridgewater, MA (SafetyAlerts) -
Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. said today it is voluntarily removing from sale Shaw's 75% Lean
Ground Beef that was processed and sold only at the Garden City - Cranston, RI
store. The recalled product has the following sell-by-date on the package:
02-02-01. The product is being recalled because a Cranston Store Associate found a piece
of blue plastic in the ground beef meat grinder. The blue plastic that was found is a Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) food grade approved material.
The company stated this is an
isolated incident and only impacts the 75% Lean Ground Beef that was processed and sold in
the Garden City - Cranston store yesterday, January 31st. This recall does not impact
Ground Beef sold at any other Shaw's Supermarket Store throughout New England.
Customers who purchased Shaw's 75%
Lean Ground Beef from the Garden City - Cranston Shaw's Supermarket can bring the product
back to the store for a full refund. Customers who have questions or concerns about this
issue can contact Shaw's Consumer Response Center's toll free number, 1-888-431-7429.
