Small Amount of Ground Beef Recalled in Raleigh

Raleigh, NC (SafetyAlerts) - The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said today that Kroger Co. is recalling a small amount of  Laura's Lean Ground Beef and Ground Round from one of their of Raleigh stores because the product may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

Kroger Company Store #304, located at 4701-117 Atlantic Avenue, is recalling 8 pounds Laura's Lean Ground Beef, 92% lean and Laura's Lean Ground Round with a code date of Sell By Sept. 28.

The recall is in response to a positive E. coli O157:H7 monitoring sample of ground beef, collected by the USDA, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) as part of its ongoing FSIS microbiological monitoring program.

FSIS stated that local media outlets were contacted directly by FSIS and the Kroger Co. had directly contacted consumers that purchased the ground beef, and has posted a sign at the store.
