Inc. Recalls Roast Beef and Pastrami for Hotels, Restaurants and Institutions
North Salt Lake, UT (SafetyAlerts) - Fellers Precooked Meats Inc. is
voluntarily recalling approximately 9,500 pounds of cooked roast beef and pastrami that
may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agricultures
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. This is a Class I recall.
The products subject to recall are 6 to 8 pound
random weight packages of "FELLERS" brand roast beef and
"FELLERS" brand pastrami. The roast beef packages have a sell by date of
May 27 or May 28, with case codes 20102, 2980, 2954, or 2054. The pastrami packages have a
sell by date of May 27, with case codes 4966 and 2466. The package labels and case labels
also bear "EST. 1550" inside the USDA seal of inspection.
The roast beef and pastrami were packaged March 30
and distributed to hotels, restaurants, and institutions in Utah, Washington, and Oregon.
FSIS has received no reports of illness associated
with consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria
monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease.
Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe
headache, neck stiffness, and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and
stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weak immune
systems--infants, the frail or elderly, and persons with chronic disease, with HIV
infection, or taking chemotherapy.
