Issues Allergy Alerts for Undeclared Peanuts in Mayfair Trail Mix
Buffalo, NY (SafetyAlerts) - Holiday Candy Corp.
today announced the recall of it's 2 oz. packages of Mayfair 2/$1.00 Trail Mix because
they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of
serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Mayfair 2/$1.00 Trail Mix 2 oz. were
distributed in retail stores in New York and New Jersey. The product comes in a 2 ounce
clear plastic bag with a paper header on top.
No illnesses have been reported to date in
connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered
that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not state the
presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a
temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes. Production of the
product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been
