- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
said that Ho's
Trading Inc., located at 1010 Dean Street, Brooklyn, NY 11238 has recalled
12oz. plastic containers of Fructs Lycll Herb because the product contains
undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the
risk of serious life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this
product. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this
product.
The Fructs Lycll Herb, a product of China, was distributed in uncoded, 12oz.
plastic containers in the following states: New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered through routine sampling by
NYS Dept. of Agriculture & Markets food inspectors that the product
containing sulfites, was distributed in packaging that did not declare the
presence of sulfites. Consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving
has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics.
Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon
ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Fructs Lycll
Herb revealed that it contained 136.9 milligrams per serving.
Establishments and consumers who have purchased the 12oz. plastic containers
of Fructs Lycll Herb can return the product to the place of purchase for a
