UNDECLARED PEANUTS IN ALMOND CAKES

(SafetyAlerts) - Sunmark Management, Inc., 1101 Metropolitan Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11211 is recalling packages of Zhongshan Specialty Almond Cakes because they contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction is they consume this product.

The recalled Zhongshan Specialty Almond Cakes were distributed in the states of NY, NJ, PA, MA, MD, VA, and FL. The product comes in a 500g tin can with a UPC code of 6904017691630.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors revealed that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the peanuts.

Consumers who have purchased 500g tins of Zhongshan Specialty Almond Cakes are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-486-0188.
