The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released the following information.
PRODUCT
Peregrina Cheese brand Queso Fresco, Fresh Cheese, sold in 14 oz. plastic
containers. Recall # F-451-3.
CODE
Code 1049, (on grocery sticker), Plant # 36-8431.
RECALLING FIRM/MANUFACTURER
Peregrina Cheese Company, Brooklyn, NY, by by press release and telephone on
April 25, 2003. New York State initiated recall is complete.
REASON
The cheese was contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes based on New York
State Department of Agriculture and Markets sampling and analysis.
VOLUME OF PRODUCT IN COMMERCE
400 - 14 oz. units.
DISTRIBUTION
NY, and NJ.
