(SafetyAlerts) - Vincent's Meat Market, 2374 Arthur Ave, Bronx, NY 10458, is recalling dry sausage which they manufactured, due to listeria contaimination.

This products was offered for sale in unpackaged bulk form in the retail store. Listeria is a common organism found in nature. It causes complications for pregnant women, such as still birth. Other problems can manifest in people with compromised immune systems. Listeria can also cause serious flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals.

The problem was discoverd after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors found the product to be positive for Listeria monocytgenes.

Vincent's Meat Market has voluntarily closed its production/retail department until they, and Department officials, determine the source of the problem.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased Dry Sausage from this meat market should reutrn it to the store. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-295-9048.
