Recall Update: "Galil Sun Dried Tomatoes in Oil" More Product Codes

Syosset, NY (SafetyAlerts) - Galil Importing Corporation has recalled Sun Dried Tomatoes in Oil, a product of Turkey, is packaged in 14.4 ounce glass jars, with code "L21121/Use by 7/30/2004" and has a UPC Number of "0 79471 12720 2". Much of the same product coded "L33713/Use by 12/3/2003" was previously recalled. Products were distributed to food wholesalers and retailers nationwide.

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors revealed that the product contained high levels of sulfites, which were not declared on the label.

Sulfites can cause deadly reactions in asthmatics and others suffering sulfite allergies. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased "Galil Sun Dried Tomatoes in Oil" should return it to the place of purchase.
