Campbell Soup Has Recalled Soup Products

Napoleon, Ohio (SafetyAlerts) - Campbell Soup Co., has recalled approximately 56,000 pounds of canned soup that may be contaminated with an undeclared allergen (cheese).

The products being recalled are 18.6 oz. cans of "Campbellā€™s Select, Ready to Serve Soup, Italian Sausage with Pasta and Pepperoni, NEW." The products are packed eight to a carton in a cardboard wrap. Each carton contains four cans of the recalled product and four cans of a chicken product that is not subject to recall.

Each label is stamped with the identification codes, "51000 14909" under the bar code and "15699" located next to the bar code. The lid of each can is stamped with the establishment code "EST4D" and a date code of "12112."

The product was produced on Dec. 11, 2002, and was distributed to Costco retail stores in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.

"We urge consumers to check their cabinets," said Dr. Garry McKee, FSIS administrator. "Consumers who are allergic to cheese products should not eat this product but should return it to the place of purchase"
