Sunny Lake Trading Has Recalled "Winter Melon Candy"

Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that Sunny Lake Trading, Inc. has recalled "Winter Melon Candy" packaged in a 12 oz., plastic bag with the code in Chinese. Ingredients are listed as plum, salt and sugar. It is a product of Taiwan.

"Winter Melon Candy" was distributed in the Metropolitan New York area.

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites, which were not declared on the labels. Sulfites can cause deadly reactions in asthmatics and others suffering sulfite allergies.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased "Winter Melon Candy" should return it to the place of purchase.
