Astor Products Has Recalled Astor brand Sesame Seeds and Fischer's Greens Seasoning

(SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released the following information.

PRODUCT
a) Astor brand Sesame Seeds in 1 oz. plastic (poly) bottles and 2 oz. glass bottles. Recall # F-766-2;
b) "Fischer's Greens Seasoning" in 29 oz. plastic bottles, which contain sesame seeds, minced onions, salt, dehydrated onions, sugar, paprika, turmeric, dextrose, red pepper, mustard, artificial flavor, yeast extracts, dehydrated garlic, and extract of paprika. Recall # F-767-2.

a) Astor brand Sesame Seeds in 1 oz. bottles -
product number 1218; lot # 02-099, Sell by date of 5/15/04.
Astor brand Sesame Seeds in 2 oz. bottles -
product number 1784; lot # 02-099, Sell by dates of 2/27/04 to 5/15/04.
b) "Fischer's Greens Seasoning" - product number 19108;
lot # 02-099, Sell by dates of 3/20/04 to 05/08/04.

RECALLING FIRM/MANUFACTURER
Astor Products, Inc. (A Division of Winn Dixie Stores, Inc.), Jacksonville, FL, by e-mail on June 7, 2002. FDA initiated recall is ongoing.

REASON
The products were contaminated with Salmonella.

VOLUME OF PRODUCT IN COMMERCE
Total 2759 lbs. (73 cases of Sesame seeds in 1 oz. bottles, 108 cases of
Sesame seeds in 2 oz. bottles, and 1435 cases of Greens Seasoning).

DISTRIBUTION
Nationwide.
