Weiss Gingerbread Cookies Recalled

Troy, MI (SafetyAlerts) - Weiss Cookies, based in Germany said today it is recalling certain gingerbread cookies because they may contain undeclared egg whites.

People who are allergic to eggs can have serious, and sometimes life threatining reactions if they eat products with egg ingredients.

The recalled Weiss Gingerbread Cookie Assortments were distributed nationwide, in red 10.5-ounce bags and 28.2-ounce boxes, and made by Germany's Max Weiss Gmbh.

A spokesperson for the company stated labels for the sugar- and chocolate-coated cookies don't say they contain eggs. But the company began a recall after discovering that a change in the recipe for glaze used on some cookies does contain egg whites.

People allergic to eggs should not eat the cookies but return them to the place of purchase for a refund, or contact Weiss' U.S. sales office with questions at 1-800-777-0633.
