Jaguar Cars Has Recalled the 2002-2003 X-Type

(SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released the following information.

Jaguar Cars

Models: Jaguar X-Type Year: 2002-2003

Number Potentially Involved: 49,174

Dates of Manufacture: February 2001 ? October 2002

Defect: On certain sedans, under some circumstances, the power circuit that feeds the direction indicator
system could fail. This could result in the driver being unaware that the external turning indicators are
not operating because the internal ?tell-tail? light on the driver?s instrument panel continues to work
normally. The loss of rear turn signals could fail to warn a following driver that the vehicle is turning
and could result in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the General Electric Module. Jaguar has not yet provided an owner
notification schedule. Owners may contact Jaguar at 1-201-818-8500.

Important Note Regarding Auto Recalls
Frequently SafetyAlerts will list auto recalls before
your dealer will know about them. If you have a vehicle
affected by one of these posted recalls be sure and
write down the NHTSA
CAMPAIGN ID Number.
If your dealer doesn't know about the recall when you
check, ask them how they are notified of recalls and
when the next update is due.
