DaimlerChrysler Has Recalled Autos

(SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released the following information.

Make : CHRYSLER Model : CONCORDE Year : 1998-2002
Make : CHRYSLER Model : INTREPID Year : 1998-2002
Make : CHRYSLER Model : LHS Year : 1998-2001
Make : DODGE Model : INTREPID Year : 1998-2002
Make : CHRYSLER Model : 300M Year : 1998-2002

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 03V035000

Recall Date : FEB 04, 2003

Component: SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:RECLINER
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 1066000

Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, SEAT BACK RECLINER BOLT BREAKAGE CAN OCCUR RESULTING IN THE SEAT BACK
RECLINING UNEXPECTEDLY.

Consequence:
IF THE SEAT BACK UNEXPECTEDLY RECLINES WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN, IT COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE
CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE RECLINER BOLTS. DAIMLERCHRYSLER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION
SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON
SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT
1-800-853-1403.

Important Note Regarding Auto Recalls

affected by one of these posted recalls be sure and
write down the NHTSA 
CAMPAIGN ID Number.
If your dealer doesn't know about the recall when you
check, ask them how they are notified of recalls and
when the next update is due.
