Lift-U has Recalled their Wheelchair Lift

(SafetyAlerts) -  Lift-U has Recalled their Wheelchair Lift because the hydraulic fluid reservoir may leak.

Manufactured: 08/2000 - 08/2002

Defect Summary:
LIFT U PLASTIC TANKS OR RESEVIORS FOR HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THE WHEELCHAIR LIFT MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 11, 2000, AND AUGUST 16, 2002. THE PLASTIC TANK WILL MELT IF THE PUMP MOTOR OVERHEATS. THE MELTED TANK WILL DUMP HYDRAULIC FLUID AND THE EMERGENCY HAND PUMP WILL NOT FUNCTION.

Consequence Summary:
IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, A WHEELCHAIR PASSENGER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE LIFT TO DEBOARD THE BUS.

Corrective Summary:
LIFT U WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND REPLACE THE PLASTIC TANK WITH A METAL ONE. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT LIFT U AT 209-838-2400.

Important Note Regarding Auto Recalls

write down the NHTSA 
CAMPAIGN ID Number.
If your dealer doesn't know about the recall when you
check, ask them how they are notified of recalls and
