Warning Issued Regarding Super Speeder II, Viper Scooters
Camp Hill, PA (SafetyAlerts) - Rite Aid Corp. said
today that it has removed all Super Speeder II Scooters, also known as The Viper Scooter,
model #386, manufactured by Hong-Kong based Excite, Ltd., from its nearly 3,800 stores
nationwide. The manufacturer advised Rite Aid that "consumers have claimed to
have pinched their fingers in the front folding mechanism" of the scooters.
Rite Aid said it is taking the extra
precautionary step of alerting its customers who have already purchased the scooters and
is offering a full refund for return of the scooter to any Rite Aid drugstore with or
without a receipt. Rite Aid said it will be putting up signs in the stores to alert
customers about the scooters.
Rite Aid said it was notified by Excite "to
remove all its inventory... from the floor and cease sale of the product" immediately
and that Excite is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on the matter.
