noimage.jpg (2391 bytes)Camp Hill, PA (SafetyAlerts) - Rite Aid Corp. said today that it has removed all Super Speeder II Scooters, also known as The Viper Scooter, model #386, manufactured by Hong-Kong based Excite, Ltd., from its nearly 3,800 stores nationwide.  The manufacturer advised Rite Aid that "consumers have claimed to have pinched their fingers in the front folding mechanism" of the scooters.

Rite Aid said it is taking the extra precautionary step of alerting its customers who have already purchased the scooters and is offering a full refund for return of the scooter to any Rite Aid drugstore with or without a receipt. Rite Aid said it will be putting up signs in the stores to alert customers about the scooters.

Rite Aid said it was notified by Excite "to remove all its inventory... from the floor and cease sale of the product" immediately and that Excite is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on the matter.

Customers with questions about the scooter should call Excite Ltd. at a special consumer hotline at (972) 243-0035.
