Evenflo Two-In-One Years: 1998

Dates of Manufacture: January - March 1998
NHTSA Recall No.: 98E014
Description of Defect: Two-in-One car seats, models beginning with 636 and 637. The seat's backrest and base have separated when the occupant is restrained by the seat's five-point harness. This does not comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems." If the backrest and base were to separate in a vehicle crash, the child in the seat could be injured.
Remedy: Evenflo will replace these seats.
Owner Notification: Owner notification began May 12, 1998. Owners who do not receive the free replacement seat within a reasonable time should contact Evenflo at 1-800-985-SEAT (1-800-985-7328).

NHTSA said manufacturers are required to mail a recall notice to all purchasers, owners and dealers when a safety defect or noncompliance with Federal safety standards is found. The agency urges owners to wait until they receive notification from the manufacturer before contacting their dealers to schedule the repair work. Not all vehicles of a particular make and model may be subject to the recall.
