Description of Defect: On passenger vehicles equipped with air bags, a
Supplementary Rubber Windshield Header Protector, to be installed by the vehicle owner
onto the windshield header when driving with the vehicle's top removed, was omitted.
Injury to unbelted occupants could occur if the vehicle's top is removed and the vehicle
is involved in a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the Windshield Header Rail Trim Panel and provide the
owner with the missing Supplemental Rubber Windshield Header Rail Protector.
Owner Notification: Owner notification began Aug. 3, 1998. Owners who do not
receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Lamborghini at
NHTSA said manufacturers are required to mail a recall notice to all purchasers, owners
and dealers when a safety defect or noncompliance with Federal safety standards is found.
The agency urges owners to wait until they receive notification from the manufacturer
before contacting their dealers to schedule the repair work. Not all vehicles of a
particular make and model may be subject to the recall.
