California Motorcycle Company Issues Recall Notice

GILROY, CA (SafetyAlerts)-California Motorcycle Company (CMC) has today issued a recall affecting certain CMC motorcycles with wire spoke rear wheels because some rear wheel belt pulleys were identified to be defective in design.

Anyone who may have a CMC motorcycle manufactured between August of 1998 and July of 1999 should take it to an authorized dealer for inspection.

According to the company, the defective part is difficult to recognize, but CMC dealers have been briefed on how to accomplish the inspection in a very short period. It is believed that only about 180 of the motorcycles have the defective part.

Owner notification by mail is expected to begin by this weekend.  Consumers with questions concerning this recall should call their local CMC dealer.
