Butterball Turkey Variety Pack Recalled

 DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (SafetyAlerts) - Butterball Turkey Variety Pack lunchmeat containing turkey bologna is being voluntarily recalled from retail stores due to an unlabeled ingredient. Available nationwide, 12 ounce Butterball Turkey Variety Pack, UPC #45300-29022, contains turkey bologna made with milk protein, which is not listed in the ingredient statement. Milk proteins can cause adverse reactions in people with milk allergen sensitivities.

Consumers who are sensitive to milk proteins are urged to return the product to the store where it was purchased for a refund. Consumers who are not allergic to milk proteins can safely consume this product.

The recall covers packages marked with "Use By" dates from 10/18/01 to11/25/01 with USDA Establishment Code P5533. The Use By date is found on the back of the package in the upper right corner. No other Butterball products are included in this recall. No reports of illness or allergic reaction related to this product have been received. This voluntary Class II recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
