Center for Health Careers Links High School Students With Health Care Careers

More than 680 students and teachers from 26 Pittsburgh-area high schools are expected to attend Health Quest, a career fair sponsored by The Center for Health Careers, part of Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania. The event will be held on Friday, October 19, at Community College of Allegheny County, Boyce Campus, Monroeville, Pennsylvania.

The program allows students to interact with professionals representing many different areas of health care. Students can partake in interactive workshops and speak directly with these professionals to learn first-hand about their job responsibilities and the educational requirements needed to enter their professions. College, university and hospital-based training program representatives will assist students in determining their program's admission requirements and provide information on financial aid opportunities.

In addition to the Pittsburgh event, 380 students and teachers from 16 schools are expected to attend Health Quest in Erie on Wednesday, October 24, at Gannon University. On October 15, 346 participants attended the first program, held at St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa. Last year, nearly 1,100 high school students attended these regional events.

The Center for Health Careers of Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania is a clearinghouse that provides accurate, timely educational information about health care careers, in response to the community's need for an appropriately educated health care work force.
