Food Allergy Awareness Organization
Seeks to Honor Advocates; Deadline for Nominations Is Feb. 1, 2002
- Food allergies cause 30,000 emergency room visits and up to
200 deaths each year. Education, awareness, and cooperation are key for
avoiding these tragedies. Do you know someone who has done an outstanding
job educating others about food allergies, which affect between 6-7 million
adults and children? Someone who has volunteered their personal or
professional time to create food allergy awareness programs, either in a
school or child care setting, camp, restaurant or elsewhere? If so, nominate
that person for a Mariel C. Furlong Award for Making a Difference.
This prestigious national award, sponsored by the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis
Network (FAAN), recognizes leaders among educators, health professionals,
and communities. Past winners include teachers, scout leaders, and doctors.
The nomination deadline for the sixth
annual Mariel C. Furlong Awards is Feb. 1, 2002. For more information visit
