Bauer Meat Co. Beef and Vegetable Protein Patties Recalled

OCALA, FL (SafetyAlerts) - Bauer Meat Co. today is recalling 38,000 lbs. of it's Beef and Vegetable Protein Patties for food service and institutional use because of E. coli O157:H7 contamination.

The patties were sold to the School lunch program in North Carolina (13,652 lbs.) and Georgia (11,800 lbs.) as well as exported to the military (12,564 lbs.).  The product was not sold directly to, or identifiable by, consumers.

The contaminated patties were discovered when an illness prompted testing of product, which was positive for E. coli O157:H7.  The product was produced on Dec. 30, 1997 and bears the code of 122FD
