Smithfield Packing Co. Recalls 490,877 lbs. of Ham

KINSTON, NC (SafetyAlerts) - Smithfield Packing Co. today announced the recall of 490,877 lbs. of Smoked boneless hams, sold under various brands, because the product may be adulterated with gear lubricant grease. The recalls ham products, including boneless, sliced, chopped, and honey hams, were produced under a number of labels between March 9 and March 12.

The hams were sold primarily for food service and delicatessen use with a small percentage sold in retail packages.  There have been at least 3 consumer complaints of bad taste and burning in throat for 1-3 hours.
