All American Meats Recalls Coarse Ground Beef
Omaha, NE (SafetyAlerts) - All American Meats is voluntarily
recalling coarse ground beef, in 10-pound chubs packed either 4 or 8 to a case, that may
be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U. S. Department of Agricultures
Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
The products subject to recall have a production
date of 04-14-99, and a "sell-by" date of 04-28-99, and Est. #20420 is printed
on each chub.
The recalled beef was distributed in New York
City, Connecticut, Illinois, Indian and Michigan.
E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly
bacteria that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. The very young, the elderly, and
persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness.
