Rochester Meats Recalls Beef Products Contaminated with E. coli

Rochester, MN (SafetyAlerts) - Rochester Meats is voluntarily recalling Frozen 100% pure ground beef, 100% pure ground beef patties, 100% pure ground chuck patties, chopped beefsteak, beef patties, meat for chili, beef patty mix, and pure beef bulk. The product was sold to wholesale and institutional customers only in 10, 15, and 20 pound packages and chubs.  The product may be contaminated with E. coli O157: H7.

PRODUCTION DATES/IDENTIFYING CODES:
All recalled products were produced on December 1, 1998, marked with the Julian code 8335 (representing 12-01-1998), and bearing Establishment 8999 in the mark of inspection with any of the following brand names on the packages:

HOW/WHEN DISCOVERED:
FSIS samples collected on March 25, 1999, were found positive for E. coli O157:H7.
