Allergy Alert - Presence of Undeclared Wheat in Piedont Caramel Spread

Ste-Anne-Des-Plaines, Quebec (SafetyAlerts) - The Piedmont Dora company of Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec is warning people with wheat allergies not to consume PIEDMONT Caramel spread in 400g containers, UPC code 0 64819 18154 1 because the product label does not list wheat as an ingredient.

The Piedmont Dora company is recalling all cases of PIEDMONT caramel spread because the undeclared wheat may cause a serious reaction in persons with wheat allergies. This product was distributed only in the province of Quebec.

Consumption of this product is of concernt to those with an allergy to wheat. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
