Heinz Baby Food Issues Recall of Broccoli, Carrots & Cheese Variety Consumers Asked to Return 6-Ounce Jars of Code P3388EA to Retailers

PITTSBURGH, March 29.  Heinz U.S.A. today announced a nationwide voluntary recall of one production code of its 6-ounce variety of "Heinz 3" Broccoli, Carrots & Cheese baby food (code number P3388EA) due to the potential presence of plastic material in the product. Only this one production code is affected by this problem. As a precautionary measure, grocery retailers have been advised by Heinz to withdraw this one production code from sale. Heinz U.S.A. is working in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to alert consumers about this withdrawal. Production codes are readily identifiable on the baby food jar lids. Consumers are asked to return the product to the place of purchase for a product replacement or refund. Consumers may call toll-free 800-782-8408 for further information. Heinz took this action immediately following testing that confirmed the potential presence of plastic material associated with the specific code. Heinz products are produced under strict quality control procedures designed to protect infants and consumers. All possible precautionary measures are in place to ensure the problem does not reoccur.
