Undeclared Pecan Nuts In "Sensational
Gourmet Chocolate Chip Cookies"
ONTARIO, CANADA (SafetyAlerts)
- Colonial Cookies is today announcing the recall of certain 12 oz packages of Sensational
Gourmet Chocolate Chip Cookies because it may contain undeclared pecan nuts. People who
have allergies to pecan nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction
if they consume these products.
The recall was initiated after it was suspected
that pecan nut containing products were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the
presence of these nuts. Colonial Cookies is aware of one person reported to have had an
allergic reaction after eating the cookies.
The affected cookies are packed in 12-ounce
tin-tie bags and marked with date codes of "Best By Feb 24 OOD" and "Best
By Feb 24 OOE" which can be found printed on the side.
The recalled product was distributed through Stop
& Shop, Tops, Edwards and Giant/Martin's Food Stores in the states of Connecticut, New
Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia and
Consumers who have purchased packages of
Sensational Gourmet Chocolate Chip Cookies bearing the date codes listed above and who are
allergic to pecan nuts should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
