Specialty Cheese Company, Lebanon, Wisconsin.

RECALLED BY
La Hispamex Food Products, Inc., Cicero, Illinois (repacker), by telephone on March 20, 1998, followed by fax and visit. Ongoing recall resulted from sample analysis and follow-up by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Illinois Department of Public Health. DISTRIBUTION Nationwide.

QUANTITY
248,938 pounds were distributed; firm estimated that 30 percent of the cheese remained on market at time of recall initiation.

REASON
Product is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
