Cosmetic Specialty Labs Derma-Clear and Jeval A-Peel Skin Bleaching Treatments Recalled

Lawton, OK (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Cosmetic Specialty Labs is recalling Derma-Clear, Skin Bleaching Treatment and Jeval A-Peel, Skin Bleaching Treatment because the product is a new drug without new drug approval (contains more than 2% hydroquinone).

This Class II recall was initiated by the company, April 26, 1999 by letter.  This is the first notice the FDA has issued to the general public of the recall.  The FDA considers this recall to be complete.

The recalled Derma-Clear and Jeval A-Peel were sold over-the-counter as a topical cream in 2 and 4 Oz. Plastic jars.

5,279 units were distributed Texas and bear the following lot and batch numbers:
