El Abuelito Queso Fresco Cheese Recalled

Passaic, NJ (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Abuelito Cheese, Inc. is recalling certain El Abuelito Queso Fresco Cheese because the product is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

This Class I recall was initiated by the company June 1, 1999 by telephone.  This is the first notice the FDA has issued to the general public of the recall.  This recall is considered complete by the FDA.

Over 500 1-pound containers were distributed in New Jersey and New York. There are no codes that can be used to identify the product.  The firm estimates none remains on the market.
