Peekay International Has Recalled NAVABHOJAN dehydrated mango pulp

Maspeth, NY (SafetyAlerts) - Peekay International has recalled NAVABHOJAN dehydrated mango pulp because the product contains undeclared sulfites. The product is packaged in 7.1 oz (200 gm) plastic bags with the code: Best Before SEPT 2002. The product is from India.

People, who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites, run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Product was distributed in NY, NJ, PA, CT, VA, MA, GA, FL, MD, and NC. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by NYS Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors indicated that the product contained sulfites that were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reaction in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock can occur in certain sulfite-sensitive individuals upon
ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of NAVBHOJAN dehydrated mango pulp revealed that it contained 12.1 mgs per serving.
