Turkey Breast Recalled in New York

New York, NY (SafetyAlerts) - State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers  warned consumers not to eat "Smoked Turkey Breast" sold at Diaz Grocery #3, 4077 Broadway, New York, New York due to Listeria contamination.

"Smoked Turkey Breast" is sold sliced in the store's deli department.

It is not coded.

Diaz Grocery #3 is voluntarily recalling the product. The product was sold in the New York City area. The problem was discovered as a result of routine sampling by New York

State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors. Production of the product has been suspended while the company investigates the source of the problem.

Listeria is a common organism found in nature. It can cause serious complications for pregnant women, such as stillbirth. Other problems can manifest in people with compromised immune systems. Listeria can also cause serious flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals.

No illnesses have been reported to date
