Newfoods Recalls Sweet Sugar Palm Brand.
Columbia, MD (SafetyAlerts) - The Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) said today that Eastland Food Corp. is
recalling Newfoods brand of Sweet Sugar Palm, packed in 12 oz. glass.
Shipped in cases, 24 jars/case.
This is the first public notice of
this Class

recall issued by the FDA.
RECALL NUMBER, PRODUCT AND CODE:

jars/case.
REASON:
The products contained undeclared sulfites.
MANUFACTURER>:
Newfoods International Corporation , Phillppines,
RECALLED BY:
Eastland Food Corp., Columbia, MD, quarantined 220 cases of 12 bottles/cs on
7/24/01 for eventual destruction. The firm contacted all customers who were
shipped product since Jan 2000 via phone on 7/24/01.
