July 25, 2001Allergy Alert: Ty Prince Trail
Mix Contains Undeclared Allergen
(SafetyAlerts) - New York State
Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers today warned sulfite allergic consumers and
asthmatics to avoid eating Ty Prince Trail Mix due to the presence of undeclared sulfites
in the product.
The product was packaged in uncoded plastic trays of random weights, usually less than one
half pound, by M.H. Fruit Corp, 202 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10013.
Routine sampling by food safety inspectors for the New York State Department of
Agriculture and Markets revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were
not declared on the label.
Sulfites can cause deadly reactions in asthmatics and others suffering sulfite allergies.
