FDA First Notice: Flavorite and Home Style Brands of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recalled

Decatur, IN (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said today that Driggs Farms of Indiana Inc. has recalled certain Flavorite and Home Style brands of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream because the product contains undeclared FD&C Yellow No. 5.

This is the first public notice of this Class II recall issued by FDA.

a) Flavorite brand Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, half gallon;

b) Home Style brand Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, half gallon.

Recall #F-352-1.

All lots distributed prior to 7/13/00. The products have
a 8 month shelf-life expiration date on them.

Driggs Farms of Indiana, Inc., Decatur, IN.

Manufacturer, by telephone and fax on 7/14/00. Firm-initiated recall *complete.

*Completed recall: FDA states 'completed recall' indicates the company has removed all affected product from store shelves,  it does not necessarily mean this particular product lot, or codes, have been fully accounted for.

Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

a) 4,524 cartons; b) 93,828 cartons.
