Siamese Coins Brand Bamboo Shoots, Pickled Eggplant and Pickled Young Green Jack Recalled

Jersey City, NJ (SafetyAlerts) - Asian-Am Product Inc. has announced they are recalling Siamese Coins Brand Bamboo Shoots, Pickled Eggplant and Pickled Young Green Jack because the products contain undeclared sulfites.

The recalled Siamese Coins Brand products being recalled are:
Bamboo Shoot Tung in Water, 24 oz., in glass jars;
Bamboo Shoot Tip, 24 oz., in class jars;
Pickled Eggplants, 8 oz., in glass jars;
Pickled Young Green Jack fruit, 16 oz.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the products contained sulfites that were not indicated on the label.   Consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics.  Anaphylactic shock can occur in certain sulfite-sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

The products were distributed in NY, NJ, PA, CT, OH, MD, VA, NC, IL and MA.  No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have any of these Siamese Coins Brand products can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.   Consumers with questions can contact the company at (718) 381-8566.
