Wisconson Firm Recalls Cheese in Eight States
Waldo, WI (SafetyAlerts) - Schneider Cheese Inc.
has announced a voluntary recall affecting several brands of string cheese because they
may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
No illnesses have been reported.
The company is recalling 8-ounce and 16-ounce packages of Schneider Cheese String Cheese,
16-ounce packages of Midwest Pride String Cheese and 16-ounce packages of Gibbsville
The products were sold in stores in Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma,
South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Schneider spokesman John Schneider said the company discovered the contamination through
random product testing and hadn't identified the source of the possible contamination.
