TN (SafetyAlerts) - The Center for
Biologics Evaluation and Research, (a division of FDA), has advised that Medicine Shoppe,
a Kingsport, Tenn. firm is recalling all lots of Urokinase that have not exceeded the use
by date. The recall was initiated because the product has not been approved by the Food
and Drug Administration, and therefore there is no assurance that the product is safe and
effective for its intended use. The drug was also manufactured under conditions which are
not in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices which could increase the risk
of transmitting infectious agents.
