May 15, 2000Lemon Wafers and Sucker Candy Recalled for Undeclared Allergen
Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - Strong America Limited
is recalling two food products which they distribute because they contain undeclared
People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk
of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The products being recalled are:
- Vastland Lemon Wafers manufactured by Tung Kuan
Vastland Food Products Co., Ltd.; Tung Kuan City, Guang Tung Pro China, packaged in a 200
gram plastic bag with a code of "QB1433.7."
- Sucker Candy; a product of China packaged in a
5-ounce plastic bag with a code of "Best Before: 20010119."
The packaging labels of the products has both
Chinese and English lettering.
These products were sampled by Agriculture and
Markets Food Inspectors during a routine inspection of the Strong America Ltd. warehouse.
Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of peanuts in both products.
No illnesses have been reported to date in
connection with this problem.
Consumers who have purchased these products are
urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
