May 12, 2000Stop & Shop Recalls Vegetarian Vegetable Soup for Un-Declared
Boston, MA (SafetyAlerts) - Stop & Shop
Supermarket Company announced late Thursday evening they are recalling Stop & Shop
Vegetarian Vegetable Soup, condensed, 10-3/4 oz., because the product contains egg
enriched pasta not declared on the label.
People who have allergies or severe sensitivity to
eggs run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if consumed.
The Stop & Shop Vegetarian Vegetable Soup was
inadvertantly distributed to a Connecticut food bank which supplies food to New Haven area
According to a press release issued by the food
chain, Stop & Shop was notified of the potential allergy alert by a customer. No
illness has been reported.
The recall was initiated after it was discovering
the product contained egg enriched pasta that was not revealed in the ingredients
statement. Those with allergies to eggs should not consume the product. Inquiries may be
