Delchamps, Delchamps Premier and Sack and Save Recall "Red Rind Cheddar" Cheese
MS (SafetyAlerts) - Jitney Jungle
was notified late yesterday that Hill & Valley Cheese, Inc. of Cashton, WI was
recalling certain Cheddar Cheese recently produced at the Hill & Valley factory. These
cheeses may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. According to a statement by
Jitney Jungle some of this Cheddar Cheese may have been packed for Jitney Jungle under the
product name, "Red Rind Cheddar", and sold on or after October 13, 2000 - solely
from the Meat Departments located in Jitney Jungle, Jitney Premier, Delchamps, Delchamps
Premier and Sack and Save stores in the form of random weight wedges.
There are no other products affected
by this recall.
None of the affected cheeses was sold
from the store's Dairy or Deli Departments. Jitney has received no reports of illness
related to this product. As a precaution, Jitney Jungle Stores of America is asking
customers who have purchased this cheese not to consume it, and to return the product to
the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
