Recall of Private Label Taco Shells
NC (SafetyAlerts) - Food Lion
announced today it is recalling its Food Lion and Kash n' Karry brand taco shells. The
recall comes after the food chain was notified by Mission Foods, its producer of private
label taco shells, that Mission Foods is voluntarily recalling Food Lion and Kash n' Karry
brand taco shells. Mission Foods has announced that it is voluntarily recalling all yellow
corn products and replacing them with products made from white corn because of the
possibility products may contain StarLink, a protein not approved for human consumption.
Food Lion and Kash n' Karry are fully cooperating in the recall by removing the affected
products from all store shelves. Customers can return the private label products to the
store where it was purchased from for a full refund.
The following products are included in the Mission Foods recall: 4.5 oz. Food Lion Taco
Shells; 8.75 oz. Food Lion Taco Dinners; 4.5 oz. Kash n' Karry Taco Shells, and 8.75 oz.
Kash n' Karry Taco Dinners.
No other Food Lion or Kash n' Karry products are affected by this recall. More information
