Drug Administration (FDA) said today that Trans Mid-East Shipping & Trading Agency
Inc. is recalling certain Oasis brand Eggplants in Brine because the product contained the
unapproved color additive carmosine.
This is the first public notice of
this Class II
recall issued by FDA.
Oasis brand Eggplants in Brine, in 19-ounce metal cans.
All product on the market at the time of recall initiation.
Kad Bnei Darom Food Products, Bnei-Darom D.N. Evtach, Israel.
Trans Mid-East Shipping & Trading Agency, Inc., Brooklyn, New York, by letter dated
May 18, 2000. **Completed recall resulted from sample analysis
and follow-up by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
**Completed recall: While the FDA has completed
processing of this particular recall, it does not mean this particular product has been
fully accounted for.
New York, New Jersey, Florida, Massachusetts, Georgia, Texas.
60 cases (24 cans per case) were distributed.
