Four Brands of 'Tiny Canned Shrimp' Recalled

San Diego, CA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reported that Bumble Bee Seafoods, Inc. is recalling its Bumble Bee, Orleans, Libby, and Polar brands of 'Canned Tiny Shrimp' because some of the cans the product is distributed in have metal plate flaws in the can end that could result in perforation and leaking of the can, leading to spoiled product.

This is the first public notice of this Class III recall issued by FDA.

PRODUCT
Canned Tiny Shrimp, in 4-ounce metal cans under the following brand names: Bumble Bee, Orleans, Libby, and Polar.

Recall #F-785-0.

V098T and V099T (Bumble Bee, Orleans and Libby);V099T (Polar).

MANUFACTURER
Bumble Bee Seafoods, Violet, Louisiana.

RECALLED BY
Bumble Bee Seafoods, Inc., San Diego, California, by fax on May 23, 2000. Firm-initiated recall ongoing.

DISTRIBUTION
CA, MS, CO, IN, IA, MI, PA, MD, NY, MO, TX, ND, TN, MN, NJ, VT, FL.

QUANTITY
356 cartons (12 per carton) of lot V098T and 3,019 cartons of lot V099T were distributed.
