Alhambra/Brea, CA (SafetyAlerts) - Diabetic Capital of
Alhambra, CA and SciQuest Lab Inc. of Brea, CA have announced the recall of two herbal
preparations that have may contain high levels of glyburide, a drug used to lower blood
sugar. These products claim to contain only natural ingredients.
People who have low blood sugar or diabetes could
experience life threatening complications if they consume these products.
The recalled products are Dianolyn Capsules, made
by Diabetic Capital and Dimelstat made by SciQuest Lab Inc.
The recalled Dimelstat was sold via mail-order and
specialty stores, in a white bottle with a green label. Each bottle contains 60
capsules and have the lot number 0915.
The affected Dianolyn Capsules were sold
nationwide and include all product sold prior to March 22, 2000. The box has green
leaves with the picture of a man on the front. The recalled Dianolyn comes in blister
packs containing 30 capsules per box.
Consumers are urged to stop using these products,
especially if they are currently being treated with other anti-diabetic drugs or if they
have symptoms of fatigue, excessive hunger, profuse sweating, or numbness of extremities.
Neither company is aware of any illnesses
associated with these products. Consumers may return the products to the place of
purchase for a full refund.
