Company Recalls Prep-Clean Kits
Junction, MD (SafetyAlerts) - The
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Georgia Steel and Chemical Company
is conducting a recall of certain Prep-Clean Kits, because cleaning kits contain alcohol
pads for which the pad manufacturer (Clinipad Company)cannot assure sterility.
The Prep-Clean Kits, contain sterile
antiseptic pads, used for cleaning and disinfecting cartridge type, full-face and helmet
respirators utilized by industry. Sterile prep pads included in the kits are labeled as
Clinipad Corporation, Charlotte, NC, coded NDC-19154-1245-8, Reorder code 0250B, Lot
819178. Kit Numbers: PC333, PC444, PC555, PC777 are affected by this recall.
According to FDA, 936 kits were
distributed in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Texas, Louisiana, Indiana,
Tennessee, Florida, Missouri and Colorado.
This ongoing Class II recall
was initiated by letter on March 29, 2000. This is the first public notice issued by the
